Amid an unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases in China, the Centre on Wednesday advised people to use masks in crowded places and take precautionary doses to protect themselves from getting infected.
Centre's Covid-19 advisory: VK Paul, NITI Aayog member (Health) who heads the national task force on Covid, has said there is no need to panic, and that adequate tests are being conducted. He advised people to wear masks in crowded areas.
India on Sunday began administering precaution dose of Covid-19 vaccines at private vaccination centres to all aged above 18 years.
Centre said that the private vaccination centres can charge up to a maximum of Rs 150 per dose as a service charge over and above the cost of the vaccine.
Administering of precaution dose of Covid-19 vaccines began in Delhi on Sunday. However, the pace of the vaccination at private centres was sluggish.
Goa failed to begin the exercise of administering precaution dose of Covid-19 vaccines from Sunday due to unavailability of jabs at some private vaccination centres.
Anyone above 18 years of age is eligible to take the precautionary dose of vaccine against Covid-19.
Those who have completed 9 months after the administration of the second dose would be eligible for precaution dose at private vaccination centers.

Health Ministry has announced booster dose for all those 18 above.
The Central govt will continue with its ongoing free vaccination program as before.
