Australia captain Steve Smith on Saturday became only the second player, after compatriot and former opener Matthew Hayden, to score 1000 Test runs in a calendar year for the fourth successive year during Day 3's play of third Ashes Test against England at the WACA, Perth.
For the record, Smith took 22 innings in 12 matches to hit his first Test hundred, then in the following 86 knocks, he has scored more than 5000 runs at an average of more than 71.
The match, however, witnessed the Lankan team, which was comfortably beaten in the previous match, registering the highest fourth innings total against India in India.
However, the record attendance at a sporting event at Adelaide Oval is 62,543 for the SANFL Australian Rules grand final in 1965.
Sehwag was not the only one to heap praise on India captain. Yesterday, England legends – Kevin Pietersen and Michael Vaughan – hailed Kohli is the best in the world.

Kohli, 29, reached the landmark with a single off the off the fifth ball of the 119th over, bowled by Suranga Lakmal. This is his fourth hundred against Lanka, and second in two matches.
The 29-year-old has 18 Tests and 32 ODI tons in 263 matches (61 Tests and 202 ODIs). He has also played 55 T20Is, but is yet to hit an international century in the shortest format of the game.
For the record, Tendulkar took 24 years to become the most successful batsman of all time. But Akhtar said that it's not justified to compare between Tendulkar and Kohli.
Jaisimha did it against Australia in 1960, scoring 20* and 74, while Shastri entered the club in 1984 against England scoring 111 and 7*.
Shane Dadswell, in his 151-ball knock, hit 57 sixes and 27 fours, and helped his club NWU Pukke post 677/3 against Potch Dorp 1st. In reply, Potch Dorp 1st managed just 290/9.
Kohli is also the 14th Indian to reach the 200 ODI mark.
Forget 10 years, if he plays for another five years, Kohli is almost certain to break most of the batting records.
Bumrah made his India debut in an ODI match against Australia at Sydeny in 2016. He has so far played 19 ODI matches (including this match) taking 37 wickets.
In the first match at Kingston, Misbah-ul-Haq remained not out in the first innings of the match which, they won by seven wickets.
He went on to make 77 off 38 balls with five fours and seven sixes, and he now has 10,074 runs in T20.
Gayle, thus, replicated the records created by Indian greats Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.
Pujara scored 1585 runs during the 2012-13 season, which is third highest in the list.
