The video of the extreme brutality went viral on social media, following which the police started a probe into the case.
The police have identified the culprits from the viral video and filed a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
The 20-year-old victim is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and his condition is said to be stable.
In yet another case of atrocities against people from the most backward castes, a 65-year-old man was allegedly forced to drink urine and beaten up, along with his son in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Though the case was registered under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, as well as under IPC sections, the court prevented the police from making an immediate, routine arrest.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of cases of crime against members of the Schedule Caste community with 8,358 instances in 2015, according to National Crime Records Bureau data.
