As a part of the efforts to create awareness about the Centre's pro-farmer initiatives including the new crop insurance scheme by the NDA government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a 'Kisan Swabhimaan Rally' in Bareilly on Sunday. Here is all what he said:-
Highlighting benefits of the just-announced Crop Insurance Scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said awareness about it should be spread across the country so that at least 50 percent of the farmers join it within two years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took to Twitter and wrote an open letter to the farmers of the country and addressed them on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, saying that the government has taken several steps to help farmers, one among which is the `Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana`.
Faced with two consecutive drought years, the Centre Wednesday cleared a crop insurance scheme under which farmers' premium has been kept at a maximum of 2 percent for foodgrains and oilseeds and up to 5 percent for horticulture/cotton crops.
Commission for Agricultural Cost and Prices (CACP) on Wednesday said it will recommend the Centre to make crop insurance scheme more effective and better, observing that farmers are not fully compensated for crop loss caused by natural calamities.
Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Saturday said the Central government is working on a new crop insurance scheme to help farmers tackle flood, drought and plant diseases in a better manner.
