Both drill targets were unveiled in a new selfie taken by the rover on May 12, the 2,405th Martian day, or sol, of the mission, NASA said in a statement.
Scientists used Curiosity rover in recent weeks to examine slabs of rock cross-hatched with shallow ridges that likely originated as cracks in drying mud.
The image shows a close-up of the dunes' sand grains, taken by Curiosity's Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) camera.
