Cyclone Fani battered the coastal districts on May 3 but only half of the over 4.5 lakh electricity consumers in Bhubaneswar have got power supply back at a time when the state is sizzled under intense heat wave.
On Tuesday, 1,000 employees from various power utilities of Telangana left for Odisha to carry on the restoration work.
The death toll in Cyclone Fani rose to 34 on Sunday.
21 of the 34 deaths were registered in Puri, where the cyclone made a landfall on Friday.
On May 3, the extremely severe Cyclone Fani barrelled through coastal Odisha, causing widespread destruction.
The special train will leave Bhubaneswar at 10 pm on Sunday and will reach Ahmedabad at 1.30 pm on Tuesday.
Cyclone Fani is expected to lash Assam and other parts of the region on Saturday.
"Fani was one of the rarest of rare summer cyclones – the first one in 43 years to hit Odisha and one of the three to hit in the last 150 years,” the CM said.
The company said its operations are largely normal across the two eastern states and it continues to supply.
Cyclone Fani made landfall around 8 am in Puri, with roaring winds flattening huts, enveloping the pilgrim town in sheets of rain, and submerging homes.
In view of Cyclone Fani, all flights to and from Bhubaneswar have been cancelled for 24 hours starting midnight of May 3.
The Indian Coast Guard tweeted a video of the ship proceeding to carry out the operations with relief material onboard.
Cyclone Fani moved further landward side in Odisha and it would cross near Udayagiri of Puri district on May 3 afternoon.
Cyclone Fani will move along the coast of Odisha and then go to West Bengal.
"I am going to see the Chief Election Commissioner about postponing the election in the Patkura assembly seat in case the cyclone hits Odisha," Naveen Patnaik said.
Cyclonic Fani is likely to hit between Gopalpur and Chandbali in Odisha.
The IMD report said the cyclone is very likely to move nortwestward till May 1 and thereafter recurve north- northeastward towards Odisha coast.
The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has been asked to keep a close watch over the situation and asked concerned departments to stay in all preparedness to deal with any possible strike of the cyclone.
