The Maharashtra CM has asked officials to file a report of the damage caused by Cyclone Nisarga within two days, in order to assure that speedy help is provided to the farmers and villagers.
In Maharashtra, the number of people killed by the devastating Cyclone Nisarga has risen to 6. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, while making an assessment of the damage done by the Cyclone, has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for the kin of those who died in cyclone-related incidents.

Cyclone Nisarga made landfall on Wednesday (June 3, 2020) as 'severe cyclonic storm' in Maharashtra's Alibaug which is about 50 km away from Mumbai city. It is expected to enter the Mumbai city in a few hours as the cyclonic cycle lays centered over eastcentral Arabian Sea near LAT. 18.1°N and Long. 72.8°E lies very close to Raigad coast.

In the wake of the impending threat posed by Cyclone Nisarga, which is expected to hit Maharashtra on Wednesday (June 3) afternoon, Indian Railways has rescheduled some trains that were scheduled to arrive/depart from Mumbai on Wednesday.

Cyclone Nisarga is expected to make a landfall very close to Maharashtra's Alibagh on the afternoon of June 3. IMD has officially declared it as a cyclonic storm and it is currently located 450 km south-southwest of Mumbai.

As of now, 10 NDRF teams have been deployed in Maharashtra and 16 in Gujarat.
The India Meterological Department (IMD) on Tuesday (June 2) said that deep depression in south-east and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area intensified into cyclonic storm around noon on Tuesday and has been officially named as Cyclone Nisarga. The name proposed by Bangladesh is the first in the series of new names.
In the wake of cyclone Nisarga, two teams of 20 NDRF personnel each have been deployed in Maharashtra's Raigad district. These teams are currently placed in Alibag and Shrivardhan area of Maharashtra.
