Wales play Azerbaijan in Friday`s European qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium, having suffered defeats in their last two games against Hungary and Croatia.

James, signed from Swansea City during the close season, opened the scoring in Saturday`s 1-1 draw at Southampton when he cut into the box from the left and fired a rocket into the top corner that gave goalkeeper Angus Gunn no chance.

The result left United on five points from four games after last weekend`s shock 2-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace while Southampton, who stretched their winless league streak at home against United to nine games, have four points.

Wales international James joined United in the close season from Swansea City and the 21-year-old marked his debut with a goal after coming on as a substitute in their Premier League opener against Chelsea last weekend. 

A pall of gloom hangs over Old Trafford with many fans disillusioned with United`s transfer business in the close season even though the club signed defenders Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and winger Daniel James.
