Fund raising by Indian companies through private placement of corporate debt securities or bonds has doubled to nearly Rs 42,000 crore in February from the year-ago level.

Driven by higher fund mobilisation by PFC and REC, capital raised by Indian companies through corporate bonds on private placement basis surged by 40 percent to Rs 2.67 lakh crore in the first nine months of the current fiscal.

A total of Rs 51,422 crore was raised by private sector companies from debt on a private placement basis during April-September period of 2013-14, according to latest report by Prime Database.

Funds raised by public listed firms through private placement of debt securities rose nearly three-fold to Rs 37,657.40 crore in November this year as compared to same month last year.

In comparison, companies had raked in Rs 96,186 crore from debt on a private placement basis in the June quarter a year ago.
