PIB Fact Check has categorically said that the viral clip is fabricated and part of a broader misinformation campaign by pro-Pakistan social media accounts.

The Mumbai based Ayurvedic doctor The doctor K K H Patil, was lured by fraudsters via Instagram reel that had Mukesh Ambani endorsing them in a deepfake video.

The first case involves an AI-generated image of a nude woman posted on Instagram, resembling a public figure from India.

Madhusudan Kela, responding to the DeepFake video has urged people to not make any investments based on the video and has said that he has not made any such claims or promises. 

WhatsApp has restricted message forwarding to five in India to limit virality especially for contentious content.

Police say the case is the first known instance of scammers using deepfakes to deceive financial agencies.

 Narayana Murthy's deepfake video on Facebook, which is now deleted, promotes a so-called investing platform “Quantum AI” to earn $3,000 on first working day.

Recently, a deepfake video featuring South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna went viral, prompting IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar to remind social media platforms to swiftly remove such inappropriate content.

Deepfakes could be subject to action under the current IT Rules, particularly Rule 3(1)(b), which mandates the removal of 12 types of content within 24 hours of receiving user complaints, said Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

In the latest instances of celebrities falling victim to deepfake technology, actress Alia Bhatt has joined the ranks of Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Kajol, Sara Tendulkar, and industrialist Ratan Tata.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav makes huge statement on deepfake issue. He has said that deepfakes are a threat to democracy. Further he said that the draft of the rules will be ready in a few weeks, action will also be taken against the video makers and platforms.

The ever-increasing prowess of artificial intelligence (AI) to create highly convincing content, such as deepfakes, has raised substantial concerns within the broader social context. 

In today's time, artificial intelligence has become so high tech that anyone can create a Deepfake i.e. false photo from a photo in a few minutes. Not only this, anyone's voice can be copied exactly through Deepfake. Nowadays, cyber thugs are also duping people by copying their voices through AI.

He said that he would like to meet this guy (if he is real). “Hard to tell with deepfakes these days,” he added.

Deepfake is synthetic media in which one person transforms into another person's likeness in an existing image or video.
