The crackdown follows the tragic death of three IAS aspirants, who were trapped in a flooded basement at Rau's IAS Study Centre during heavy rainfall. 

The Rau's IAScoaching center's owner, Abhishek Gupta, and coordinator, Deshpal Singh, were brought before a magistrate, who ordered their 14-day judicial custody. 

Amid the questions being raised on the functioning of the MCD, Mayor Shelly Oberoi directed the officials to take action against the errant coaching centres following which basements of 13 illegally operating coaching centres in the Rajendra Nagar area was sealed. 

The Delhi Police have detained the coordinator and owner of Rau’s IAS centre in Old Rajinder Nagar after basement flooding killed three students, including two women.
