The post had been lying vacant after the death of former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit in July.
Several names including Ajay Maken, Jai Parkash Aggarwal, and Yoganand Shashtri are doing the rounds for the Delhi president's post.
Dikshit served as Delhi chief minister for three consecutive terms till 2013 when the Congress lost power.
Ajay Maken is said to be suffering from 'painful orthopaedic ailment.'
Maken cited health reasons while handing over his resignation, said sources, adding that he has left for treatment abroad.
