Delhi sweated under scorching heat on Wednesday with the maximum temperature settling at 40.9 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average, and the minimum temperature being recorded at 29.7 degrees Celsius.
The Safdarjung Observatory records a minimum temperature of 21.8 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal, on Monday.
Delhi and several other parts of India on Sunday witnessed temperature crossing the 49 degrees Celsius mark, which suggests that a 50-degree level is around the corner.
