According to reports, over 100 people have lost their lives in the southern state of Kerala, succumbing to various diseases, such as, H1N1, leptospirosis and dengue from January till date.
Amid rising cases of dengue and chikungunya in the national capital following the outbreak, the Delhi High Court will on Tuesday day hear the matter in connection with the growing mosquito-borne menace.
Only prevention and control of mosquitoes can ensure long-term protection against dengue and chikungunya.
Though India was not at risk of an Ebola outbreak, there have been many such outbreaks in the past, including bird flu and swine flu, Piot, co-discoverer of the Ebola virus and Director, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), said during his lecture at the Indian Institute of Public Health-Hyderabad (IIPH-H) in Hyderabad on Sunday night.
