Dengue toll News
Dengue fever is an infectious tropical disease spread by mosquitoes.
The total number of dengue cases in the capital has crossed the 12,500 mark, with 32 deaths, municipal authorities admitted earlier this week.
With nearly 1,850 fresh dengue cases reported in the last one week, the total number of people down with the vector-borne fever in the city this year has mounted to 12,531.
Health stakeholders, including top officials of the Delhi health department, researchers and laboratories, on Wednesday met to discuss new initiatives to control the raising dengue cases in the national capital.
As the dengue toll reached 27, officials Wednesday said the figure could be higher as reporting from private hospitals about such deaths was "irregular and sluggish".
