The United Kingdom has added India to a list of nations whose nationals can be deported immediately if convicted of crimes. 

All Bodoland Minority Students Union (ABMSU) has questioned the growing pattern of deportations conducted by the Assam Police and administrative machinery.  

The top court’s order came after the family seeking relief claimed that they were holding Indian passports and Aadhaar cards.

Two youths from Rajpura in Patiala district, who were among 116 individuals deported by the US in a C-17 aircraft that landed at the Amritsar airport on Saturday night.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, visibly upset over the Centre’s decision, arrived in Amritsar on Friday and is set to hold a press conference to address the issue.

The deportees claimed their hands and legs were cuffed throughout the journey and they were unshackled only after landing at the Amritsar airport.

In a major breakthrough in its campaign against gangsters, Punjab Police is all set to arrest wanted gangster Sukhpreet Singh Dhaliwal, alias Budda, from Delhi airport after successfully securing his deportation from Armenia.

Controversial religious preacher Zakir Naik on Saturday met Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, reported the country's media. The meeting comes a day after Mahathir rejected India's request to deport Naik.
