Nadal defeated Argentina's Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the French Open.

The Russian's semi-final match against Rafael Nadal will take place in the early hours of Sunday (India time). Nadal leads their career head-to-head series 3-0, including a stunning comeback from 5-1 down in the third set of their clash at last year's ATP Finals. Medvedev became the first Russian to compete in the ATP Finals in consecutive years since 2009 title-winner Nikolay Davydenko (2005-09).

In his first match of the 2020 ATP World Tour Finals, Novak Djokovic beat Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 6-2. Schwartzman, making his maiden appearance in the Tour Finals was no match for the rampaging world no.1 Djokovic. Before the start of the match, Djokovic was presented with the year-end No.1 trophy - for a record-equaling sixth time.

Rafael Nadal will meet German fourth seed Alexander Zverev, who beat Swiss Stan Wawrinka 6-3, 7-6(1), in the last-four clash. Carreno Busta needed to lift the trophy at Bercy, and at next week`s Sofia Open, to deny Schwartzman a spot in the ATP Finals. Milos Raonic, on the other hand, had to dig deep to beat 22-year-old Frenchman Ugo Humbert 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(7) in Paris.

Novak Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud in blustery conditions 7-5, 6-3 on Sunday to reach the Italian Open final. He will face Diego Schwartzman in Monday`s final after the Argentine held his nerve to beat Canadian youngster Denis Shapovalov 6-4 5-7 7-6 (4) in a dramatic second semi-final. The Serbian World No. 1, Djokovic, remains on course to win his 36th ATP Masters 1000 crown and overtake Rafael Nadal on the all-time list.

Rafael Nadal refused to make excuses for his shock defeat by Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals of the Italian Open. Nine-time Rome champion Nadal looked well off the pace in his 6-2, 7-5 loss to 15th-ranked Argentine Diego Schwartzman . Nadal, who skipped the U.S. Open in New York due to COVID-19 concerns, said he would regroup before heading to Paris, where he will bid for a record-extending 13th title.

No. 2 seed Nadal was made to work hard on an excessively humid day, as he overcame a stiff challenge from Schwartzman in the first two sets and eventually registered a 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 victory to advance to the semifinal of the US Open for the eighth time.  

World number 18 Cecchinato raced through the match in little over an hour to claim his third ATP title, without dropping a set all week.

World number one Rafael Nadal will continue his quest for record 11th French Open title, when he crosses swords with Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals of the men`s singles event on Wednesday.

Argentine Diego Schwartzman produced a remarkable fightback from two sets and a break down to beat South African Kevin Anderson 1-6 2-6 7-5 7-6(0) 6-2 and reach the French Open quarter-finals for the first time on Monday.

Carreno Busta, the first player to face four qualifiers in any Grand Slam, booked a Friday semi-final against the winner of a night match between South African 28th seed Kevin Anderson and 17th-seeded American Sam Querrey.

Croatian fifth seed Cilic, the 2014 US Open champion who missed six weeks since Wimbledon with an adductor strain, was eliminated by Argentine 29th seed Diego Schwartzman 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-4.
