A Mexican judge has sentenced the father-in-law of drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to more than a decade in prison.

Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman will spend the rest of his life in a US prison if convicted on charges he ran the world`s largest drug-trafficking organization during a decades-long criminal career, U.S. prosecutors said on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off that a big consignment of narcotics was being unloaded from a four-wheeler, a police team conducted a raid and searched a vehicle.

A Mexican newspaper published today surveillance photographs that apparently show that US actor Sean Penn was monitored by authorities before his meeting with drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

 Actor Sean Penn is now under investigation for secretly interviewing the Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, while he was evading authorities following an escape from a Mexican prison.

An interview that Hollywood star Sean Penn conducted with Mexican Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman late last year helped Mexico`s government catch the world`s most wanted drug lord, sources said on Saturday. 

Mexico is willing to extradite drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to the United States, a federal law enforcement official said. It's a sharp reversal from the official position after his last capture in 2014.

After tracking Guzman down to a house in Los Mochis, Mexican Marines chased the head of the infamous Sinaloa Cartel through a drain and then nabbed him as he tried to flee by car.
