Government's move to protect domestic aluminium producers by raising import duty on the metal has been neutralised by doubling of cess on coal, mining baron Anil Agarwal said today.

The government is keeping a close watch on dumping in view of recent devaluation of Chinese currency, Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Friday.

Many domestic players like Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Hindalco have seen their profits come under pressure in the March quarter. The worrying part for them is the risk of a spike in low-cost imports, as Chinese firms push their excess production to global markets.
