Satellite pictures released by the meteorological office showed a thick layer of dust covering large parts of northwest India. 

In Iraq's capital Baghdad, the dust storm once again increased the problems of the people. The storm turned dark in the last day, the speed of vehicles slowed down on the roads. Even many people started having trouble breathing.

IMD predicted that the wet spell over Northwest and east India from May 21 to May 24. IMD said that there would be an abatement of heatwave conditions over the country from today onwards.

No significant change is predicted in the maximum temperature over most parts of northwest India and central India during the next two to three days. Isolated light rainfall, dust storm, and thunderstorm is very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during the next two days. Heatwave conditions will return to some parts of Maharashtra from Wednesday.

The change in temperature is the result of fresh Western Disturbance over Western Himalayan Region. Fresh Western Disturbance will bring isolated light rainfall over the plains of Northwest India, including Delhi-NCR, for the next four days.

There is no prediction of a heatwave in most parts of the country for the next five days. Isolated light rainfall along with dust storms, thunderstorms are very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. A heatwave is likely in some parts of Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and west Rajasthan on Monday.
