Elattuvalapil Sreedharan is credited with changing the face of public transport in India with his leadership in building the Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro. Later he helmed several other metro projects in key cities thus earning himself the moniker 'Metro man'.

Shashi Tharoor on Sunday said that E Sreedharan is likely to have a "minimal" impact on upcoming Kerala Assembly polls. Congress leader asserted that the BJP is not a serious contender except in a few seats in the state. The polls for the 140-member Kerala Assembly are likely to be held in April-May this year.

E Sreedharan, also dubbed as the 'Metro man' will joining the BJP just months ahead of the state assembly polls in Kerala. The 88-year-old is likely to contest the Kerala election, which is likely to be held in May. Sreedharan retired as chief of the Delhi Metro in 2011.

Sreedharan, popularly known as Metro Man, submitted his resignation citing ill health.
