The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) will detect elephants approaching tracks and will send an alert to the station master, loco pilot, and station manager.

While the cost of power in normal diesel LHB coaches is over Rs 36 per unit, in rakes with the HOG system, the cost comes down to Rs 6 per unit, said East Coast Railway.

A Tri-weekly Special train between Sambalpur and Shalimar via Angul and Bhadrak will also start.

The train, comprising 147 wagons, three brake/guard vans and four engines, was planned between Godbhaga and Balangir railway stations in the Sambalpur Railway Division.

Describing the incident as a minor one, railway officials said it took around two hours to make the affected track fit for resumption of train services.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday ordered a thorough probe into the accident.
