The US has called for calm and restraint from India and Pakistan amid increasingly strained relations between the two neighbours and urged both militaries to keep their lines of communication open to help defuse tensions in the region.

 US President Barack Obama on Friday pledged support to Germany in the wake of a deadly shooting rampage in Munich, as officials said they were working to determine if any US citizens were affected.

There have been systematic assaults in Bangladesh in recent weeks especially targeting minorities, secular bloggers, intellectuals and foreigners.

 The US has said it is closely following the situation in Nepal and asked the people in the country to engage in the democratic process through peaceful means after a 19-year-old Indian was killed in the ongoing violence over the new Constitution.
