Delhi Police’s cyber-crime cell took to Twitter to reveal that these fraudsters are using fake messages to manipulate users. They are claiming that if a user doesn’t do what they say, then their SIM cards will be blocked. Basically, they are asking people to give a call on the phone numbers mentioned in the message

Fake message is doing rounds on the mobile phones claiming free COVID-19 vaccination slot. This message is being received by only Android users through the messages app. The link embedded in the message is actually a link to malware

Some of the messages being circulated are genuine, while others are said to be false and could potentially cause unnecessary panic amongst beneficiaries. The message further said that the vaccination should be avoided by women five days before and after the period as their immunity is low during the period which is false as there is no such thing in the first place, according to a report. Another message claiming that the COVID-19 vaccine can be booked through WhatsApp is also fake

COAI issued a stern warning saying that telecom users should not fall into this trap and must not click on any malicious links that have the potential to steal their data from their smartphones or computers. The industry body asked users to break this chain by not forwarding such false messages to any friends or relatives. To stop this, one should simply delete and not forward such messages and therefore, we can together fight this menace and save others from getting cheated, the report said.

The survey includes questions on gender, age, quality of Amazon service, and the smartphone platform that the individual is using. The next step is to open the boxes for the free gift and once a user “wins” the gift, it asks him/her to share it with five WhatsApp groups or 20 friends.
