The US Federal Reserve`s policy arm, the Federal Open Market Committee, issued a statement Wednesday after a two-day meeting announcing it had kept unchanged its benchmark zero-level interest rate.
The Federal Reserve is "widely expected" to begin raising interest rates this year though the policy path remains uncertain, the central bank`s second-in-command said on Monday, appearing to lay the groundwork for a less predictable future.
Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said Wednesday that a proposed law that could involve Congress in monetary policy could damage the economy.
