As of now airlines offer a meagre amount of up to Rs 4,000 for both denied boarding and cancelling a flight. However, from August 1, the compensation for such events paid by airlines to flier will go up to Rs 20,000 per individual.

From August 1, all airlines and carriers will not be able to charge additional for cancellation of tickets more than the basic fare plus fuel surcharge.
