Flood death toll News

24 deaths and 645 infections were reported in the last 24 hours. Both the government and private agencies of the country are working together in the Sylhet region which has been facing the worst floods in 122 years.

At least 9,302 people have been driven from their homes due to rains that caused major floods and landslides in Recife. A total of 31 municipalities in Pernambuco have declared a state of emergency due to the rains. Rains also affected the states of Sergipe, Alagoas, Paraiba and Rio Grande do Norte.

Rescue crews have been dispatched to the worst affected areas, including the cities of Suizhou, Xiangyang and Xiaogan, China's Ministry of Emergency Management said. The city of Yicheng also saw a record 400 millimetres of rain on Thursday. More than 2,700 houses and shops suffered flood damage and power, transportation and communications were also disrupted, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
