 With industry fearing excessive regulation in the wake of Maggi controversy, food regulator FSSAI has said it has taken a number of steps to check any "fear psychosis" among companies.

It was a friend's call through which Yudhvir Singh Malik got to know about his transfer from food safety regulator FSSAI, where he served as CEO for just about a year but brought it into limelight with the Maggi ban.

To streamline its product approval process, food safety watchdog FSSAI will frame a new set of regulations in next six months, after the earlier procedures had to be scrapped following court orders, including in the Maggi noodles case.

The Bombay High Court on Friday reserved its order till August 3 on a petition filed by Nestle India against orders of Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Food and Drugs Administration of Maharashtra banning Maggi as it contained lead beyond permissible limit.
