RailTel on Tuesday (February 18) announced that it will continue to provide free WiFi at over 5,600 railway stations across the country.
Apart from India, Google Station is available in Nigeria, Thailand, Philippines, Mexico, Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa.
Arvind Kejriwal said, "It will cost around Rs 100 crores. Subsequently, every week 500 wifi-hotspots will be added, and within 6 months these 11,000 hotspots will be set up. This step will help students and people in other sectors."
The company says people can use their phones even in areas with no telecom coverage to connect to the net.
Speaking at an event, Goyal said that if collaborations with private entities are successful then free wifi can be provided to all stations in 120 days.
