Yet another round of talks today failed to end the standoff between the government and FTII students over the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as its Chairman, with the students alleging "unwillingness or inability" of the authorities to act upon their core concerns.

Agitating students of FTII held one more round of talks with the government but there were no indications of an immediate end to the four-month-old deadlock.

Television actor Gajendra Chauhan, viewed as close to the BJP, will remain as chairperson of the premier Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), and to placate protesting students, the government is planning to install a co-chairperson of the institute, sources said.

FTII students, who called off their relay hunger strike after the government agreed to come to the negotiating table, held talks with Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry officials here on Tuesday.
