Samsung`s Galaxy Note 8 device is expected to come with a price tag of 1.09 million won ($962) here, industry sources said on Monday.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd indicated on Monday that its latest flagship Galaxy S smartphone could be delayed as it pledged to enhance product safety following an investigation into the cause of fires in its premium Note 7 devices.

Over 2.5 million units of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 were recalled in the last part of 2016 after several of the devices either caught fire or exploded.

On 2 September 2016, Samsung suspended sales of the Galaxy Note 7 and announced a voluntary recall (referred to as a "product exchange program"), after it was found that a manufacturing defect in the phones' batteries had caused some of them to generate excessive heat, resulting in fires and explosions.

Samsung Electronics Co. on Tuesday said it was considering splitting the company into two, a move seen as necessary for heir-apparent Lee Jae-Yong to take over the firm from his father.

Hit by Galaxy Note 7 fiasco and a massive corruption scandal, south Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics may be heading for a split as part of a restructuring plan during a shareholders` conference call on Tuesday.  

Clearly denying any accident to have taken place, Samsung on Thursday said that no untoward incident has occured with regard to Galaxy Note 7 in India as not even a single unit of the device was sold in the country.

Just after facing a major debacle in form of global recall of Galaxy Note 7, Samsung Electronics is reeling from another challenge. 

 Despite facing a massive debacle in form of recall of Note 7 model, the South Korean giant has maintained its lead in the global smartphone market in the third quarter.  

The Apple iPhone 7 went on sale in South Korea on Friday, seeking to fill a void left by arch-rival Samsung on its home turf following a damaging recall fiasco over the Note 7 smartphone.

Samsung India Electronics will make all future launches, including entry-level smart phones, with 4G facility and it expects to gain a bigger market share on the back of the new launches, a top company official said on Thursday.

Domestic budget-carrier Vistara on Monday became the latest airline to completely banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on its aircrafts, including in the check-in baggage.

German carrier Air Berlin on Saturday said it had banned Samsung`s Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones from flights, while rival Lufthansa said it had banned the phones on services to and from the United States and expected that soon the ban would apply to all other Lufthansa business.

Samsung on Friday said the crisis over its exploding Note 7 smartphones would cost another $3 billion-plus in lost profit over the next two quarters, but hoped expanded sales of its other flagship handset would help cushion the impact.
