In an apparent message to China, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that India has no intention to capture even one inch of the land of any country but will respond if anyone tries to cast an evil eye over it.

The India-China border dispute covers the 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control. China claims Arunachal Pradesh as part of southern Tibet while India contests it. Aksai Chin is a vast area in Ladakh which is currently under Chinese occupation. 

"China and India are important neighbours to each other," outgoing Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said in his farewell remarks.

India is more likely to respond to perceived or real Pakistani provocations with military force under Narendra Modi’s leadership as it was under previous regimes, said the 2022 Annual Threat Assessment by the US.

India and China on October 10 held the 13th round of military talks. During the meeting, the Indian side made constructive suggestions for resolution of remaining issues along LAC in Eastern Ladakh. It, however, failed to break impasse as the Chinese side didn't agree and was unable to provide any forward-looking proposals.

India, China will hold another round of high-level military talks on Sunday (October 10), sources said. The 13th round of talks between the two countries since violent clashes last year are scheduled to begin around 10:30 AM. It will reportedly take place at the Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control.

India and China on Tuesday (September 22, 2020) agreed to continue talks and their discussion to amicably resolve the border dispute between the two countries. The Defence Minister said, "Since April, we had noticed a buildup of troops and armaments by the Chinese side in the border areas adjacent to Eastern Ladakh." "In early May, the Chinese side had taken action to hinder the normal, traditional patrolling pattern of our troops in the Galwan Valley area, which resulted in a face-off" Rajnath Singh reiterated that the Galwan Valley clash had taken place as a result of the Chinese violating the process of disengagement decided at a meeting of senior commanders of the two sides on June 6
