The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed an application seeking cancellation of bail granted to AgustaWestland accused Gautam Khaitan in another case allegedly involving black money and laundering.

Khaitan has contended in the plea that action was being taken against him under the Act for assets which ceased to exist before the law came into force.

Khaitan had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI a few years ago in connection with their probe but was granted bail in the case.

The ED had on January 26 arrested Khaitan, a lawyer, in a fresh case in connection with the alleged possession of black money and money laundering.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday arrested AgustaWestland scam accused Gautam Khaitan in a fresh case of holding black money and money laundering. He was arrested under the Black Money Act. 

On January 1, 2014, India had scrapped the contract with AgustaWestland for supplying VVIP choppers to IAF over alleged breach of contractual obligations.

A court here on Wednesday granted bail to two more accused arrested in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal case.

Former Air Force chief SP Tyagi and two others, arrested in the Rs 450 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal bribery case, were sent to four days' CBI custody on Saturday.

The three Tyagi brothers were questioned for over eight hours at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters in Delhi. 

The minister said all angles need to be investigated in the case that pertains to acquisition of 12 VVIP choppers for a cost of over Rs 3600 crores.

Amid a walkout by Congress which was pressing for a Supreme Court-monitored probe, Parrikar said CBI is "very seriously" investigating the case.

In the latest developments on AgustaWestland scam probe, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday claimed that former board member of Aeromatrix Gautam Khaitan accepted taking payments from Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa, middlemen in the Agusta Westland Chopper deal, but rejected allegations that it was part of any kickbacks.

This is the first time that former Indian Air Force chief SP Tyagi has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate.

The CBI Wednesday questioned former IAF Chief S P Tyagi for the third consecutive day today besides quizzing advocate and former board member of Aeromatrix Gautam Khaitan in connection with the controversial Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland chopper deal.

Yesterday, two premises of Gautam Khaitan in Delhi were being searched by the ED who seized jewellery worth Rs 1 crore and impounded some financial documents.
