The role of parents as citizens in shaping the future of their children in government schools is worth examining. Across continents, across countries, across contexts- parents want better things for their children than they had for themselves. They want their children to reap the benefits of what they sowed.

This day offers an opportunity for families and communities to come together and recognise the essential contributions of parents to society.

In 2012, the General Assembly proclaimed June 1 as the Global Day of Parents, to be observed annually in honour of parents throughout the world.

The study was conducted with 4000 parents across Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
