According to the new report of the Global Innovation Index, Pakistan is ranked 99th out of 132 economies in 2021. The Global Innovation Index reflects the country's low literacy rate, lack of innovative investment in research, development and education.

India has moved up four places to rank 48th in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2020
Compiled by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Cornell University and INSEAD business school, the index assessed 131 economies.
India’s remarkable jump has also been witnessed on the Global Innovation Index. In the past 4 years, India’s rank in the GII has improved from the 81st rank in 2015 to the present 52nd rank in GII 2019 report.
India is 2nd in innovation quality for the second consecutive year.
India has moved up six places to 60th among 130 nations on the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2017, emerging as the top-ranked economy in Central and South Asia.
India ranks abysmally at 43rd out of 45 countries in a global innovation index, according to a report released by US Chambers of Commerce which cited the country's "anemic" Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) policy and patent act as challenges to innovation.
India's ranking in the Global Innovation Index has fallen to 76 position from 66 in 2013, the government today said quoting a report.
