Jewellery sales is likely to fall by 40-50 tonnes in the January-March period due to the ongoing strike against proposed 1 percent excise duty on non-silver jewellery, according to ICRA
Trade Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told lawmakers on Wednesday the number of gold seizures in first 10 months of the 2014/15 fiscal year to the end of January had jumped to 3,412 from 2,450 for the whole of the previous year.
Gold imports into India are likely to rise 200 tonnes in the second half to December, a 14 percent increase compared with the first half.
