A powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the Greek island of Kasos early Wednesday, shaking parts of Crete, Israel, Egypt, and Turkey. No major damage reported. Authorities monitor aftershocks in the seismically active Hellenic Arc.
The flames engulfed homes in five villages but the full extent of the damage was not immediately known.
