The 54th GST Council meeting on September 9 decided to set up a GoM to examine and review the present tax structure of GST on life and medical insurance.
In order to curb the growing Corona cases in the country, a high level meeting of the Group of Ministers is going to be held in Delhi today which will be chaired by Dr Harsh Vardhan. At the same time, PM Modi said that test, track, treatment is necessary. At present, PM Modi denied the possibility of complete lockdown in the country. More than 1 lakh corona cases are coming in the country every day.
Group of Ministers to meet today at 12 noon in Rajnath Singh's residence. The meeting will be done to plan the execution of the relief package. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman and Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to take part in the meeting.
This is the fifth meeting of the GoM on COVID-19 since March 25.
Denying that the virus spreads through mosquitoes, Agarwal said that India is geared for COVID-19 challenge, adding if "we can maintain 100 per cent social distancing than it will be an effective intervention in breaking chain of coronavirus transmission".
As per the structure being worked out by the Centre and state officials as well as Nandan Nilekani, businesses having zero tax liability for six consecutive months may get to file returns only twice a year.
This will be the sixth meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) after being set up in September 2017.
However, National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has argued that government's latest move will hike prices by 6 percent to 8 percent.
