GSAT-19 News
As per ISRO, the GSAT-17 is scheduled to lift off at 2:29 hrs IST on June 29, 2017, onboard Ariane-5 launch vehicle from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana.
The mission is so significant for India, mainly, because of the cryogenic engine that is powering the rocket, using liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as propellants.
The GSLV MkIII-D1, weighing 640 tonnes and standing 43.43 metres tall, is capable of lifting payloads of up to 4,000 kg into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) and 10,000 kg into the Low Earth Orbit.
The GSLV Mk III D1 is capable of lifting payloads of up to 4,000 kg into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) and 10,000 kg into the Low Earth Orbit.
The GSLV MkIII-D1, in its first experimental flight, carrying 3,136-kilogram weighed GSAT-19 communication satellite, will take off from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 5 p.m. today, June 5, 2017.
The GSAT-19 satellite is scheduled to take off in early June onboard GSLV-Mk III, ISRO's heaviest rocket, from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota.
