Taking to Twitter, ISRO said that the Chandrayaan 2 will be launched from the launch pad at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 2.51 am (IST) on July 15.
The Indian Data Relay Satellite System and ISRO's GSLV MK III will concurrently improve earth observation and communication links.
The GSLV Mk-III continuation Programme – Phase 1 is the first phase of operational flights that will enable the launch of 4 tonne class of communication satellites to meet the country’s satellite communication requirements.
The rocket powered by its own cryogenic engine at the upper stage, placed communication satellite GSAT-19 weighing 3,136 km or 3.1 tonne.
According to AS Kumar, there will be one more developmental flight of 640 ton GSLV Mk III, with a capacity to lift four ton satellites, before it graduates to operational mode.
As per reports, the Indian space agency is preparing for two launches in the next two months from Sriharikota.
