Gudi Padwa, the Marathi New Year, is a celebration of new beginnings, prosperity, and faith. The direction in which the Gudi is placed is significant in drawing positive energy and blessings. The Gudi must be respectfully removed by evening or the following day with appropriate prayers.

Ugadi and Gudi Padwa 2025 will be celebrated on March 30, marking the Hindu New Year with prayers, festive foods, and cultural traditions. Ugadi is primarily observed in Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, while Gudi Padwa is celebrated in Maharashtra with special rituals like hoisting the Gudi. Both festivals symbolize new beginnings and prosperity, with devotees cleaning homes, making rangolis, and offering prayers for a prosperous year ahead.

On this day, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya along with his consort Sita and brother Lakshmana. As per the Hindu calendar, New Year is marked during the Chaitra months (March-April) and different regions. The Konkani community refers to this day as Samwatsara.
