SC rejected petitions seeking carbon dating of the ‘Shivling’, claimed to be found in Gyanvapi mosque, to ascertain its age. The next hearing will be held on Oct 20. SC said it will await Varanasi district judge's decision on Gyanvapi issue.

According to the affidavit, the written statement had said that the idols and the temple which stand there have existed since long before the advent of the Mohammedan Rule in India. 

The debate about Gyanvapi Masjid is increasing in the whole country. In a conversation with Zee News on the Supreme Court hearing, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the civil judge had given a wrong order and did not hear the Muslim side.

The Hindu petitioner in the case, Sohan Lal Arya on Monday claimed that the committee found a Shivling at the complex Arya, who accompanied the court commission for the mosque survey, said that they have found "conclusive evidence"

Gyanvapi Masjid Case LIVE:  Supreme Court orders that DM Varanasi shall ensure that the area where the Shivling is reported to be found, shall be duly protected. Supreme Court also ordered that direction to protect the area where Shivling is reported to be found shall not in any manner restrain or impede access of Muslims to the mosque or use of it for performing prayers and religious observances.
