The research team found that the star K2-155d could potentially have liquid water on its surface based on three-dimensional global climate simulations.
The planets studied are referred to by letter, planets b through h, in order of their distance from the star.
The low-mass exoplanet orbits the red dwarf star Ross 128 every 9.9 days. The star is currently located at a distance of 11 light-years from Earth.
This conclusion is reached because the Earth itself is very close to being a so-called 'waterworld' - a world where all land is immersed under a single ocean.
