Over the past decade, advancements in all three treatment modalities have improved precision and reduced side effects. Robotic surgery enables access to previously unreachable areas with minimal incisions, and intraoperative nerve monitoring preserves important nerves during surgery.

The study was conducted by Cancer Mukt Bharat Foundation, a Delhi-based non-profit organisation The study was conducted on 1,368 cancer patients across India who called the foundation's Cancer Helpline Number between March 1 and May 15 The study also showed that 27 per cent of cases diagnosed in India are in stages 1 and 2 of cancer whereas 63 per cent were Stage 3 or 4 cancer

While this interconnection allows for seamless and smooth functioning, it also creates a susceptibility disturbance in one area which may quickly cascade and impact other body parts. As we know oral cancer represents almost 70 % of HNSCC, and in such cases undoubtedly upfront surgery is the initial treatment option. The main goal of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma surgical treatment is the complete removal of the tumour and a margin of surrounding healthy tissues.

"Head and neck cancer, like any cancer, is truly life-altering," says Christina Wicker, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Vinita Takiar. "This drug compound has been well tolerated by patients and causes minimal side effects," she says. Cancer eventually returns in up to half of the patients, Wicker says.

The main factors that increase the risk of head and neck cancers are smoking and alcohol consumption.

A delegation of doctors from Pakistan, expected to participate in a global conference on Head and Neck cancer in the city, could not attend the event as the Union Home Ministry said "they failed to apply for proper travel documents".
