Sonam Wangchuk Climate Fast: Wangchuk, an engineer by profession, posted a 2.16-minute long video in which he confirmed that he is continuing with his fast on day two on the rooftop of the Hial campus as the Khardungla pass is blocked due to heavy snowfall.
The study is the latest and perhaps most convincing indication that climate change is eating the Himalayas' glaciers, potentially threatening water supplies for hundreds of millions of people downstream across much of Asia.
The new analysis, spanning 40 years of satellite observations across India, China, Nepal and Bhutan, showed glaciers have been losing the equivalent of more than a vertical foot-and-a-half of ice each year since 2000.
