The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) (Prevention) and Control) Bill, 2014, moved by Health Minister J P Nadda, was passed in the Upper House by a voice vote after it remained pending for more than three years.

HIV can be transmitted from an infected person to another through certain body fluids – blood, semen and pre-seminal fluid, rectal fluids, vaginal fluids, breastmilk.
