Police said the incident took place at Pipalheda village under the Khatoli police station and the accused in a cousin of the girl, who was opposed to their relationship.

The accused was upset over his teenage daughter's affair and shot her dead. He tried to implicate three men for sexual harassment of her daughter. He had registered a false FIR in which he claimed that the girl had resisted sexual harassment attempt by them.

The victim, Hemanth Kumar, who was in his mid 20's had married Avanthi Reddy on June 11 after nearly eight years of courtship. Apparently, Avanthi Reddy's family was against the relationship, they got married against her family's wishes.

A woman and her husband were shot dead in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand allegedly by her father and her brother, who were against the marriage, police said on Tuesday.
