Chinese handset maker Xiaomi has elevated its India Head Manu Kumar Jain to a global role as its Vice President.

Facebook Inc has hired Hugo Barra, the most prominent global executive at Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc, to lead its virtual reality business including the Oculus unit, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said.

 Xiaomi Global Vice-President Hugo Barra announced his exit from the Chinese handset maker to return to the Silicon Valley.

Xiaomi's Global VP Hugo Barra claimed so via a tweet. However, he did not give any specific break-up of the market.

MIUI 8 comes with Dual Apps that will allow users to have two WhatsApp accounts on the same device.

The Mi 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 3GB RAM.

Xiaomi is bringing something special for its fans next week.

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on Tuesday claimed that it has sold over 600,000 units of the Redmi Note 3 in India in just two months, a record sale for the company.

In August last year, Xiaomi had partnered Taiwanese firm Foxconn to set up local assembly of its phones to cater to one of the world's fastest growing smartphone markets globally.

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi will launch the much anticipated MIUI 7 Operating System in India.

Xiaomi has already encountered intellectual property hurdles in India, where a patent infringement complaint from Ericsson briefly halted sales of its handsets late last year.

With a move to expand outside Asia, leading Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has started making devices in Brazil for local sale.

The event will be attended by the company's CEO and founder, Lei Jun and president and global vice president Hugo Barra.

The phone will reportedly sport a 4.7-inch display with 720x1280p resolution.

"One area that we are also looking to make some investments in is start-ups in India. India is already the largest market for us outside of mainland China," Barra said.

Following the relief from the Delhi High Court, Xiaomi will once again put up its Redmi 1S smartphone for sale on December 23 via e-commerce site Flipkart.

Hugo Barra, the former Google executive now leading Xiaomi`s international operations, told Reuters in November how rapidly the country had taken to his brand.

The Redmi Note has a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display and boasts of a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor supported by 2GB of RAM.

Following reports of Xiaomi infringing user privacy by sending their details to a remote server, the Chinese handset maker has clarified that it does not store private information or data without permission.
