Telangana High Court has given its approval to the state government's proposal to set up a fast-track court for trial in the case relating to gang-rape and murder of a woman veterinarian.

The 26-year-old woman was gang-raped and killed allegedly by two truck drivers and two cleaners near a toll plaza on Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad on November 27 (Wednesday night). They later shifted the body to a place near Shadnagar town and set it afire. The charred body of the victim was found on November 28 (Thursday).

Four persons - Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu - were arrested on Friday by the Telangana Police. They are to be produced before the court later today. Addressing a press conference after arresting the four accused, the Cyberabad Police said that a request will be made to handover the case to the fast track court in Mahbubnagar to expedite the prosecution for maximum punishment to them.

The burnt body of the veterinary doctor was found on Thursday at an underpass in Shadnagar outskirts in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district. After the preliminary probe, the police suspect that she was sexually assaulted before being charred to death.
