Hyundai India is all set to launch the facelifted Creta in the Indian market, and the South Korean brand has revealed that it sold over 6 lakh units in CY 2023.

In the month of June 2023, the South-Korean carmaker - Hyundai, retailed a total of 50,001 units in the Indian market, while exported a total of 15,600 cars from India.

The highest-ever annual numbers for Hyundai were clocked by each of the models like Creta, New Venue, Alcazar, Tucson, Aura and Grand i10 Nios. 

Tata Motors has taken the second spot on the list of top-selling brands in India, while Hyundai takes the spot and the auto industry ends the year on a high note.

The company had sold 40,158 units in December 2017, HMIL said in a statement.

Post June, car sales graph had increased and continued to improve ahead of festive season.

South Korea`s Hyundai Motor Co plans to raise the prices of its car models in India by up to 30,000 rupees ($448.60) starting in January, its local unit said, citing challenging market conditions.

Buoyed by strong response to its newly launched SUV Creta, Hyundai Motor India ltd (HMIL) is increasing the output of the model by over 16 percent to around 7,000 units a month.

In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 40,505 units last month as compared with 33,750 units in August 2014, up 20.01 per cent.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Saturday reported 5 percent increase in total sales at 50,408 units in July.

The newly launched sport-utility vehicle Creta was excluded from the price rise.

Revenue rose 0.3 percent from a year earlier to 22.82 trillion won in the second quarter, but net profit plunged 24 percent to 1.79 trillion won.

In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 36,300 units last month as compared with 33,514 units in June 2014, up 8.3 per cent.

South Korea`s Hyundai Motor Group, squeezed by slowing sales, plans to cut domestic operating expenses, with the savings depending on its sales performance in the third and fourth quarters, a spokesman said on Tuesday.

Hyundai Motor said after market close on Monday that total sales in May were 389,299 units, down from 416,026 in May 2014.

In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 37,450 units last month compared with 36,205 units in May 2014, up 3.4 percent. However, the company's exports declined 2.9 percent to 15,065 units as against 15,513 units in the same period last year.

The company had sold 50,222 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement.

Hyundai Motor on Thursday posted its fifth consecutive drop in quarterly profit after South Korea`s biggest automaker boosted sales incentives in the United States and weaker overseas currencies put a drag on offshore revenue.

As part of the plan, the company which sold 4.11 lakh units last year,on Wednesday launched the updated version of its mid-sized sedan Verna priced up to Rs 12.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Hyundai Motor posted Thursday a steep drop of more than 20 percent in fourth quarter profits as a strong won continued to blunt its price competitiveness against Japanese rivals.
